Janome DC2013 Sewing Machine Review

This is a sponsored review. Regardless, I only recommend products that I would use personally.

When searching for a quality sewing machine, their are various known brands that provide well working machines. After my old singer decided to fight with me to operate the right way, I set out to find another. Of course I wanted an upgrade and something that would not break the bank. Their are other sewing machines at lower cost, but would they last? So many question went through my mind.

The machine that I decided on was the Janome DC2013. Brand new for this year. It is a durable, quality machine that does exactly what it should, and then some! I was amazed by how quiet it was as well.

The Janome DC2013 is a fabulous machine. This sewing machine itself feels much sturdier than the mostly plastic other models. Even the Singer that I received from my mother that is 20+ years old was much less sturdy than the Janome DC2013. My new Janome DC2013 Sewing machine also includes an LED Screen. It indicates stitch selection and easy navigation buttons are a huge help in selecting the stitch and set length and width easily.

The automatic needle threader is truly amazing! It is simple enough to use. If you can find the tiny piece that catches the thread you should not have a problem using it. It did take me some time to figure out. But once I did, I now use it all of the time. The machine itself works great with many types of fabric. I have used multiple layers of cotton and knit fabric without any difficulties. I like to make big frilly dresses and that requires a sturdy machine. The Janome DC2013 can definitely withstand all of that cuteness! This machine has enough features to do sewing, quilting, garments, alterations and it's light weight enough to travel to classes. In addition, with each purchase of the DC2013, you also get some heavy-duty freebies.  We are talking about a hard case and a walking foot. Not too shabby.

Some of the many Features include:

  • 50 stitches, including 3 buttonholes
  • Auto-Lock
  • Up/Down needle position buttons
  • Auto-Declutch bobbin winder
  • Stitch number, width, and length buttons
  • Direct stitch selection buttons
  • Fully Automatic sensor buttonhole
  • Convertible free arm for circular sewing
  • SFS (superior feed system)
  • Built-in needle threader
  • Reverse Stitch button
  • Speed control slider
  • And Many More!!!
The Accessories include:

  • Hard Case
  • Walking Foot
  • 1/4” Seam Foot O
  • Zipper Foot E
  • Satin Stitch Foot F
  • Overedge Foot C
  • Blind Hem Foot G
  • Automatic Buttonhole Foot R
  • Screwdriver
  • Bobbins
  • Set of Needles
  • Seam Ripper
  • Additional Spool Pin
  • Spool Holder (Large)
  • Spool Holder (Small)
  • Lint Brush
  • Felt
  • User Manual
  • Foot Control
  • Power Cord
  • Warranty Card

You will get everything you need to start sewing when purchasing this sewing machine. Walking foot and hard case included! Not many machines offer that.

It also works great with shirring! I had problems in the past with other machines shirring. I don't have to do much to get the perfect shirr. All you need is good elastic thread, and handwind it onto your bobbin. My Tension stays at 3-4 and my stitch length is 5. The trick is making sure that your thread is under the metal piece on your bobbin case. Viola! Perfect Shirr.

It made this massive ruffled cuteness!

The Drop in Bobbin system is another favorite of mine. It isn't just cool. The machine has not jammed once!

The features include fifty stitches, one-step buttonholes and decorative stitches plus needle-up-down memory, which is a feature I consider a MUST-HAVE on a sewing machine. The needle-up-down lets you tell the machine to stop with the needle either up or down. When you stop with needle down, you can pivot on a corner or a stitch design and the fabric is held in place by the needle. Once you've tried this, you'll never want to be without it.

Fifty stitches include 24 Heirloom Stitches and 6 Satin Decorative Stitches. There are three buttonholes. That many great stitches including the star are great for home design. That's why the machine is referred to as a Decor machine. The decorative stitches are particularly good for imitating heirloom hand sewing on children's clothing, or doing quilt and applique.

There are buttons placed above the needle for easy use when you sew. Including a speed adjustment.

I am extremely pleased with this sewing machine! The Janome DC2013 seems to be very sturdy and well-constructed. There are more than sufficient features on this model to make it a solid choice machine for even a beginner. It's also very easy to learn how to use. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced sewing machine.

  41. This is a great review! A couple years ago when I was working I planned on buying a sewing machine but then when I went to the stores and checked online there were just soo many to choose from I decided to come back later after I did some research. All the question I asked myself are all the questions you answered in this review. I wish this review was out a couple years ago. Anyways I wound up losing my job and never got one and it's super disappointing but now if I ever can afford it I know which one to look into. Thanks!
