Roots Only Comb Applicator Review & Giveaway
Recently I had the opportunity to review Roots Only Comb Applicator. I was not sure of what to expect from the product. I have used hair dye since I was 12 years old. I have a lot of at home hair dyeing experience. With that, I have tried several Comb in applicators. Which come with the already boxed dyes. They never seemed to work properly for me. I was hoping that this product would work. Since the holes come out through the top instead of in between the comb bristles as other do.
Does it work? Sure. In the sense that you do in fact have to part your hair to achieve your goal of total coverage. Or maybe it is made for really thin hair?
In the time given for my review, I could not actually use hair dye. Bummer. BUT, I had a solution after some research. Many hair dressers use a "coverage technique" while learning application. With doing this I could tell where the "dye" would be placed and how it would spread. Which I would rather do anyway before trying any hair dye. How do I know what would happen?
I used a mixture of hair gel and a little water just to get the right consistency. Similar to mixing hair dye. Shake it up with your gloved hand. Remember we are experimenting, but if it was dye, you definitely need gloves.
Just as I imagined, it does not just go through my roots, and I still need to part my hair into four equal sections. (this is normal) If I could post pictures of myself using it, I would. I just could not figure that one out. It definitely works. But you may have to smudge it a bit with your hands to get the entire effect. You do have to be careful with this, because it could lighten, or darken the rest of your hair. Which is why salons are usually the best choice for such things as hair.
I personally dye my whole head when using hair dye. My color always fades. This is definitely a great way to lighten my roots first, as they are much darker. Following up with the rest of my hair a few minutes later. That is what I love about Roots Only. It is what works for me. It is also reusable. Which is a huge plus. Just wash it out well and you can use it for several things. Use deep conditioners, oils.. whatever tickles your fancy. Even different colors.
Would I recommend Roots Only? Yes, I would. There are a couple hiccups, but they are not issues for me. An application brush is cheap enough to come by and will assist you.
