3rd Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge - Day 3: How are we doing? #flatschallenge

As you already know, we have been taking the Flats and Handwashing Challenge with Dirty Diaper Laundry. It has been a fun adventure. If you missed my first  or second post you can find them here and here.

We are using 10 flats for the challenge. Is that enough? Probably not. But it is working so far. She has pooped a lot too.

I really had no idea that I would like flats. It really doesn't even seem like a lot of work. Yes I do use my camp style bucket washer daily, but its' not hard.

My only issue now is the Snappis. Ugh. I love them, but I hate them. Aria is such a mover, so we had to accidents on Day 2 where her diaper came undone. Very interesting. I'm rethinking the whole pins thing now.

Yes, I could use a pad fold. Honestly though, I prefer folding flats. It hold in the poop really well.
Surprisingly in fact. I really thought this would be a horror story week. But, she has pooped 5 times already and even though we have a couple stains on our flats ( the sun will get those out) we are doing great!!

I wanted to share one of the folds I love. One of many, but I figured I would keep this post as short as possible. If you would like to see more just let me know. It is pic heavy, so bare with me.

The Oragami fold:

First: lay our your flat.

Second: you will fold it in half. Toward the tag, or away from you.

Third: Fold it in half again, so that you have a square.
Fourth: Take ONE piece from the corner.
Fifth: Pull it over. You will now have a triangle on TOP of a square piece.

Sixth: Take the entire thing and flip it over. Now, you will have a square piece on TOP of a triangle.
Seventh: Proceed to fold in the square. I choose to do it into thirds.
After folding, you will have a "sailboat" looking flat.

Now you can put it on your baby!

  1. That is neat, i never knew how to fold a "flat" before. I am glad to know that now, in a major emergency, even a t shirt with this fold would be better than nothing. THANK YOU

    1. I have done it with a T Shirt as well. It is really great and stretchy!

    2. I like the idea of a t-shirt... the stretchy part is enticing... maybe I'll try that later this week! :)
